Adding to Website Template Selector

Now that you've created your own template, here's how you can make it appear in the Website Template Selector. This means that later when you want to create a new website, you can choose your new template from the template selector. Below is how your own template can appear in the Website Template Selector.

XSitePro Template Selector

To do this, you will need to prepare four files. The files are as below:

  • TEMPLATE_NAME.jpg (480 x any height)
  • TEMPLATE_NAME.th (JPG renamed to TH - 120 x 90)
  • TEMPLATE_NAME.txt (Template description)
  • TEMPLATE_NAME.xse (XSitePro export file)

TEMPLATE_NAME.jpg & TEMPLATE_NAME.th

TEMPLATE_NAME.jpg is the huge screen shot of your template that appears on the right. This is a normal JPG file. It has to be 480 pixels in width and can be in any height. TEMPLATE_NAME.th is a JPG file, renamed with a .TH extension. This is the small screen shot that appears on the left. It has to be 120 pixels in width and 90 pixels in height.

To create this, you can use the Preview button and hit the Print-Screen key. After that you can edit the file in Photoshop. For the bigger screen shot, it's better to have a screen shot of the whole web page, including the footer. To do this, you may need to do two screen shots and attach them back together in Photoshop.

TEMPLATE_NAME.txt

TEMPLATE_NAME.txt is a simple text file. You just write some description about your template. One paragraph text will do.

TEMPLATE_NAME.xse

undefinedThis file is created when Export a website from XSitePro. This is the website where you created your template with. If you created a website for the purpose of creating a template, don't put any web pages in them. After done putting the images in the Page Layout, simply exit from that Website to go back to your Project Selection Tree. Then select the website that holds your template and click on the Export button.

When asked whether you want to export Publishing details, select No. Use the same name that you use for the rest of the files, in this case, TEMPLATE_NAME.xse.

Copying Files to Installation Folder

By default, your installation folder should be "C:\Program Files\XSite Pro". If you selected a different folder when installing XSitePro, just make sure where you installed them.

If you created a template for Affiliate Programs, then just copy all the four files to

C:\Program Files\XSite Pro\Data\Templates\Affiliate Site Templates

If you created a template for a sales letter, then copy the files to

C:\Program Files\XSite Pro\Data\Templates\Sales Letter Templates

Your new template should appear in the Website Template Selector.
