I Told You So… NIM Turned Into A Home Study Course

One part that I was hoping they’d do is a full video is Mark Joyner’s lecture on Simpleology — unfortunately for us, viewers, they didn’t. I am sure the contestants are getting good information about Simpleology, but not the viewers. All that I can remember is, the shortest route from point A to point B is a straight line, but no one ever does that. And I recall sitting in a seminar, watching Matthew Andrews saying something like this, “In life, you never get a straight line. That’s just life. You just keep going.”

So I didn’t get much from Mark Joyner’s lecture.

Well, you know how Internet marketers are. Always looking for ways to monetize. Maybe they’ll compile all the lecture videos and release a home-study course, and sell it for $997. LOL!!

secret-class.jpg

I wrote that when I was blogging about the first episode of The Next Internet Millionaire. Now that the dust is clear… what do you know – The Secret Classroom.

I told you so… that’s just how marketers are. Not that there’s anything wrong with that… what would I have done if I were Joel Comm? Probably the same thing! :D

Hey, I am right about the price too. It’s $997. But as of this writing, for the launch of Secret Classroom, it’s starting at $497 and will gradually be increasing… so you better get yours quick before the next price increase.

Imagine – 12 teachers, up to 2 hours each, and no sales pitch non-sense like in most seminars you go to…

For My Malaysian Readers…

Are you in Malaysia? Do you live close by?

If you are confused about all these Internet marketing stuffs, I may have something for you.

In the past few months, I get people coming to me telling that they went to a few seminars and they are still not making the money they hoped. Some of them were frustrated, confused, excited but lost, not knowing where to start, etc.

Well, I think I know how they feel…

I’ve been to those seminars. And most of them are no more than just pitch fests. For 3 days, you sat there in the hall watching and listening to speakers to go up on stage one after the other.

And the speakers delivered a very good speech, telling you about what’s important when building an internet business, making you believe that they have what it takes to make it BIG on the Internet…

But the truth is they were working on you, getting you into a buying state. These speakers are professional salesman, some are professional hypnotist…

And at the end, they will pitch you with a package of products, that is the supposed to be the silver bullet to your online success. A package that is worth over $10,000, which you can get for only $1000 — only during the next 30 minutes.

So you took out your wallet, and pulled out your credit card and rushed to the back of the room to get the package.

But when you got home, you have no idea what you bought. You regretted your purchase. To a certain extent you felt cheated.

And worse, you have no one to turn to… there’s almost no support at all.

Actually, for most people, they don’t even have the basics they need to comprehend all the advanced materials in the package. The empty gap between what you know and what was being taught is too huge. You just got excited seeing those huge income proofs.

And with no one to turn to, you feel frustrated. You don’t know what to do next. And you regreted your purchase at the seminar.

I Have A Different Idea… Tell Me What You Think…

I hate it when I don’t know where to turn to for help. Of course that rarely happen to my now days. Today, I have a group of friends where we bounce ideas off each other.

But I can remember when I was just starting out. I don’t really know what works, or how to make it work from here in Malaysia.

Maybe I can offer a different experience for you.

Now, instead of doing another seminar, why don’t we do a weekly class.

I will get a place, hook it up with Wi-Fi Internet and we can start the class rolling. All that you have to do is bring your laptop computer and we are all set.

Instead of being confused not knowing what to do, I can give you homeworks and you can show me what you’ve done in the next class the following week.

With the little feeds of information you get, you have a week to digest it, test what you’ve learn and get back to me with your results.

If you don’t understand something, we’ll discuss it on the next week. If things didn’t go as expected, you know I’ll be around.

And my intention is to keep the class small. That way I can give my personal attention to every student. And I can even consult you one-on-one on your project…

Yes, I figured that everybody wants to do different things on the Internet. Most people have a rough idea of what to offer and what to sell. But they just lack the knowledge and the skills to do it online.

Plus, there are just so many things that you can do online.

You can blog, you can create a portal, you can sell info-products, you can sell physical products, you can create a community-site, you can promote affiliate programs, etc.

That is why I think it’s important to work on individual projects. I want to look at what’s best for you. I don’t want to just teach people how to make money online. Instead, I want to show people how to build an online business.

Think about it… It’ll be like taking a part-time class in the Open University. Sad to say, you will be spending a bomb with that, and you are still not building an income source.

Of course, there’s the public appreciation… pat on the back by your boss and colleagues. But a pay raise? Hardly. Even if you get some, how much?

Now, I am not against educating yourself, and going to back to college. I respect people to take actions to better yourself. But I think you have a better option now…

2007 is coming to an end. And 2008 is nearing. What I want to do is create a solid passive income source for you. Imagine a better 2008. One with less financial struggles.

That is possible… but we have to start working quick.

I can’t tell you details for my Interent weekend class just yet. I want to hear from you first, and know what you think about it.

If you are interested in this, please write back to me. If I get enough feedbacks, well… I may just do it. If I don’t, maybe later.

Of course, this is only for those who are geographically near to me. You may see that in my emails, the address is in Negeri Sembilan, but I am physically in Kuala Lumpur. NS is just my business registrations.

So I will be doing this in Kuala Lumpur.

Nights, week days, weekends… I don’t know yet. Just write in and tell me which you prefer and maybe I can see what is best for everybody.

To know more about this, please write to kidino[no-spam]writetokidino[dot]com — substitute “[no-spam]” with “@” and “dot” with “.” I will be keeping a separate list for those who reply to this.

How To Get 100,000 Views On YouTube

Forget all that you’ve read about YouTube and video marketing. Throw away all those crappy ebooks you’ve bought. And just delete those newbie videos showing you how to put a video on YouTube. What you will see (or read about) with regard to viral videos will blow your mind, making you think, “Why didn’t any of the gurus tell me this?” — Well, because they haven’t done anything like this before.

Yesterday I blogged about Ciaran, who presented his strategy to viral video marketing for business at SMX London. And it’s not just for some childish-teenage stupid videos. These are practical strategies for businesses. Case studies includes Lenovo and BlendTec. He also has a Powerpoint presentation and you can download that presentation from his blog.

If still you think you can’t control viral effect for business — than EAT THIS!

Today, I found another blog post with step-by-step strategy to making it big with YouTube viral video marketing. At Techcrunch, Dan Ackerman Greenberg spilled the beans how he get over 100,000 views on YouTube. Why over 100,000? Because if he doesn’t, he doesn’t get paid. His clients includes Hollywood movie studios, major record label, variety of very well known consumer brands, and a number of different startups, both domestic and international.

Now, please don’t just look at this from the viral video point of view. If you haven’t got it yet, get Buzzmarketing by Mark Hughes and think about viral marketing in every aspect of business.

Viral List Building: Choosing Your Automation System

viral-list-builder-header.jpg

In the previous part, I talked about putting your offer together. If you have your offer ready, it’s time to put together the website. In this part, I want to talk about choosing your viral list building software.

With my recent OptinDesign.com, I settled with the OTO-type model. This is where you offer something for free to get the sign-up and after that present your new subscribers with an upsell to a paid membership. With the OTO model, every subscribers is automatically an affiliate. They can later promote your viral website and earn commission from the upsell.

I like this viral list building model because you can build your list and make money at the same time.

I also use this model with my DIYMiniSite.com.

The difference between DIYMiniSite.com and OptinDesign.com is the software that is powering it.

With DIYMiniSite.com, I coded everything from scratch. Though I know how to get things done, I am not really a diligent programmer. I am a bit lazy when it comes to coding. After I finished coding for DIYMiniSite.com, I just managed everything from phpMyAdmin. Yes, I am pretty good with SQL and I can write the commands to edit, view and delete records. And I do that all from phpMyAdmin. (Don’t worry, you don’t have to know all these things with your site. I found you a better solution.)

Of course, in the long run, it’s a bit of a hassle. But that’s how I manage things at DIYMiniSite.com.

And because of zero documentation, lack of planning in the development and the absence of a control panel for administering the system, it’s not easy to duplicate the site for other projects. I can’t give my system from DIYMiniSite.com to others because they won’t be able to use it.

Actually I was not really happy with the code at DIYMiniSite.com. And when I wanted to launch WOWPopUp.com, I started coding everything from scratch all over again. So it’s back to the drawing board. Though the general engine to the viral list building and the membership management is a lot better, I still don’t have a control panel.

It still works. The bad thing about that is I lost a lot of time coding and debugging. What I should be doing was planning for marketing, create the freebies, create the products, put more value in the website and putting together joint venture deals.

One time ago, I found a system that was sold with Master Resale Rights. It can do what I have in DIYMiniSite.com and WOWPopUP.com. And I thought that this could be the answer to my problems. I have two websites running with this viral model that this system supports. I could write a case study and later sell copies of this system.

I bought the master resale rights. But when I looked at the system – boy, it was a mess. There were bugs everywhere. Things weren’t working right. And the codes were not document and it was a terrible mess. Not the mention that there was virtually no support at all.

That was one bad investments I did. And I couldn’t get a refund for it too. That was months ago, maybe a year ago or so…

So remind myself that I need to find a good, robust system, backed with solid support.

With OptinDesign.com, I don’t want to code everything all over again. I just want to build the website, create the products and get joint venture deals. And I need to find a system that can do what I want.

I know there are few out there. Of course, there’s the Butterfly Marketing by Mike Filsaime. Then there’s Easy Members Pro. These two are good products. But then I found Viral Sale Generator. And there are things that attracted me to VSG more.

Remember my frustration with the other script that I bought previously. After that, when looking for any software, support is my main priority. With VSG I found that it was developed by one of the top software development house in the world. I found out that they guys that developed VSG are the same guys that created Post Affiliate Pro. And Post Affiliate Pro is one of the best affiliate tracking software out there. It’s being used by thousands of happy merchants all over the world. In fact, they also won the best affiliate software by Affiliate Software Review in 2006.

That boosts my confidence in them. If they can develop and support an affiliate tracking software, I guess something like a VSG shouldn’t be much of a problem. From my point of view, VSG was developed by a real software house. No offence to the other viral system, but most of them are created by marketers. So that is where VSG is different.

So I decided to go with VSG for my OptinDesign.com. This way I can concentrate more on product creation and marketing.

VSG is great because it handles the affiliate sales tracking, the email system, the reporting, paying affiliates and many more things. It does make my life easier.

Well, I didn’t mean to get into the system part too early. But I was writing and this came out. If you are thinking of putting together your own viral list building project, you may want to consider Viral Sale Generator.

Alright, since we have the system part covered, your assignment…

  • Design the website
  • Write your copy for the squeeze page (for your free offer)
  • Write your copy for the one-time offer

Get start on that with all the marketing know-how you have right now. Maybe I’ll cover that in the next part and you can compare how well you did. And after that’ll we’ll go through how to put your web design and squeeze into Viral Sale Generator.

Online Viral Marketing For Business…

First of all, I wasn’t at SMX London. But I found a great blog post by Ciaran Norris, from AltogetherDigital.com, who presented a talk on viral marketing at SMX. I am sure that the blog post by Ciaran is nothing like the real presentation. But if you weren’t at SMX London (like me), this is the closest you’ll get. Out of request from those attended the talk, Ciaran put out this blog post along with a link to the slide show that he made.

Reading the examples of viral videos they did, my thoughts can’t stop thinking how brilliant they are. One campaign was put together to create more brand awareness for Lenovo, and it landed in Business Week. Another campaign was to sell more blenders the they multiplied sales by six times.

Remember, all these were achieved with no advertising at all.

There is a strategy that Ciaran called Piggy-Backing… not too different from what I was talking about earlier this week. Of course Ciaran is talking more about the videos. But there similarities in the core concept.
