Taking Another Look At Info-Marketing
Info-marketing is about creating info-products. And with the internet, ebooks will always come to mind.
The process sounds simple. Getting into info-marketing, normally you create ebooks that helps people like how-to books. You write a book and the convert it into a digital, easily distributable format. The most common format is PDF. With ebook readers, you may also consider EPUB and other ebook formats. And then you sell the ebook directly from your website. As for payment, you can use Paypal, ClickBank or 2Checkout. And the next step is marketing it.
When you look around, maybe you mainly see that some of the pros or the top gurus in internet marketing are just churning out ebooks after ebooks. These ebooks normally are either self-written or ghostwritten. So you see, internet marketers always start with the topic in mind and start to research it. If they feel they can make money with it, then they’ll create an ebook in that topic.
Most of the times, because the ebook is ghostwritten by a pro-writer, or you yourself, which has no personal experience in that particular topic, I find that ebooks like these carries very little substance. Of course, you can do as much research as you can, but unless you really have first hand experience, or is an expert in that topic, no matter how much research you do, your ebook will still be just another “reference”. A reference ebook don’t get people excited. But a book with a good story behind it sells really well… The story sells.
Some people are really good writers that they can fabricate a “story” around the ebook. Normally those stories are not real. When you do this, you deceive people into believing that your “fiction” is true. In other words, that’s lying.
There is another way to do this.
Instead of writing the ebook anonymously, how about getting it backed by a really solid authority figure? Apply the publisher’s mentality with your info-marketing business and partner with authors.
I went for a visit to MindValley recently. If you don’t know who they are, they are a giant Internet publishers int he self-growth niche market. To give you a general idea on how big Mindvalley is, let’s just say they gross 8-figure per year. Some of their authors (or clients) are like Bob Proctor and the Silva Method.
Instead of the normal ebook business model that you see almost every gurus and Internet marketers use, Mindvalley partners with really good, solid authors and publish for them. Of course these products utilizes new media technology like internet, video, audio, Facebook, streaming, etc. Their authors earn royalties. And some of their authors earn 6-figure income A MONTH! Which is more than most best seller authors out there.
I believe MindValley’s business model is what you need to emulate if you are into info-marketing. Consider creating products that you will be proud of. Something that you won’t be ashamed of to take to TV, radios, interviews.
One time, a wise copywriter said — Internet is just a medium. What that means is that the Internet is just another place to market and advertise. That made me think. The format of products maybe different, mostly digital. But when the questions arises about what can you sell online, my answer now would be — sell something that people buy. So back to creating products, why not create products that you can sell anywhere, no matter whether it’s online or offline. A product you’d be proud of.
