Promoting MiniSiteGallery.com With A Mini-Site Design Contest

MiniSiteGallery.com has been launched. That’s the easy part. Now comes the part about promoting the site.

One thing that is obviously lacking in the site is more mini-site templates. To solve that, and also apart of the overall marketing strategy, I am hosting a mini-site design contest.

And now comes the challenge of getting people to actually participate in the contest. At first I wanted to giveaway an iPod Touch or a Nokia N810 (both are like Internet media player tablet — look it up). But I realized that there are legal issues when sending electronics and telecommunication devices across international borders. I mean, I can get the prize from a trusted eBay merchant in the States, but he may not be able to send the iPod to New
Zealand…

So I decided to just giveaway a $500 cash prize. I did send out an email to my readers telling them about this contest. And I also mentioned that I am accepting prize contributions from sponsors. So far, I also have one copy of Viral Sales Generator from Peter Koning as one of the prizes.

In case you don’t know, Viral Sales Generator is what I use to run my OptinDesign.com.

Anyway, a little info about the contest… Winners will be judged by the public using a voting plugin. Designers can send in their entries from now till 29 February 2008. From 1 March to 31 March, that is the voting period. And on 1 April, I will announce the winners.

OK… so what have I done so far to get people to actually participate in this contest. I have a list of Warrior designers (member of the Warrior Forum). And I was sending out private messages one after the other, until the spamming warning came out.

So I just created a new thread in Warrior’s Forum. So far, I don’t see that it’s doing much.

Now, I am looking at other things that I can do. After writing this blog post, I will be contacting some people that I have personal contact with. I hope others can help me get the words out. If you have a blog, perhaps you can blog about this contest.

So the race is on… 29 February… how many entries will I have?
