Some Funny Subject Lines From Internet Marketers

OK, here’s an email I got today. The subject line goes

“Re: What I Think About Product ABC”

Huh! I know what you think. You are thinking that I should be getting it from your affiliate link. I can guarantee that 99% of times, it will be that way.

Here’s another one… A
“Re: Personal Message For Kidino…”

or

“Re: Kidino, it’s John (personal)…”

The funny thing is, it’s being sent using some autoresponder. How can that be personal? And when you read it, it gets very FORMAL that it can’t possibly be personal.

Here’s how the email writes …

Dear Kidino,

I just finished going through Product ABC. And I think it’s
something that you really should check out. If you ask me,
it has my personal seal of approval.

John Doe

Sounds funny for a personal email, right? Well, here’s how I would write a personal email to a personal friend.

Did you get Product ABC yet? I got it. Really good stuff. If
you haven’t got it, then use my affiliate link. I’ll return the
favor with your recommendations later, OK?

KIDINO

That’s right, no Dear Joe. And sometimes maybe just a Hi or Heya.

  1. This is weird – I’ve been thinking the same thing over the last 2 days.

I think you’ve got the right mindset – no one would write the body copy that way. In fact, who sends personal emails to friends by adding “(personal)” in the subject heading?

The marketers who do this are exposing their lack of empathy for their subscribers. Some might not care if they see their list as somewhere to “blast”. Others just don’t get it.

    I’m glad you get it!
