The Next Internet Millionaire, Episode 1 - My Ramblings …
If you don’t know this already, it aired already. Just for the sake that it’s there, I think you should check it out. I don’t know if anybody has ever done a reality show totally on the Internet before.

I just watched the whole episode last night. One thing I have to say is that I am glad they put advertisements in TV shows like the do. This 52-minute program however, has no ads in between … and it was a stretch.
Oh-uh … I am starting the rambling already …
Alright, so here goes. What do I think of this program.
Well, I like it. Maybe this first episode is a stretch because it’s the first episode — and they have to introduce the participants and the people in it. I think the participants are all good, nice people. I am happy that they are on the show …
But there are parts where I think the editing goes too long into it that it starts to bore you. One part is the breakfast. And then the intro at the COMMplex. And then how the contestants all sit around, discussing, brainstorming on their second task. Another one is the presentation of the second task itself. And also the part where they go into the Judgement Room … Well, those are a few that I can remember. They can cut short on those actually … really boring …
One part that I was hoping they’d do a full video is Mark Joyner’s lecture on Simpleology — unfortunately for us, viewers, they didn’t. I am sure the contestants are getting good information about Simpleology, but not the viewers. All that I can remember is, the shortest route from point A to point B is a straight line, but no one ever does that. And I recall sitting in a seminar, watching Matthew Andrews saying something like this, “In life, you never get a straight line. That’s just life. You just keep going.”
So I didn’t get much from Mark Joyner’s lecture.
Well, you know how Internet marketers are. Always looking for ways to monetize. Maybe they’ll compile all the lecture videos and release a home-study course, and sell it for $997. LOL!!
And you know what? As funny, as it sounds, and though I am being a little sarcastic, if they do, I am sure many will still be running to get it.
OK, back to the program … And for this part, I have to salute Eric Holmlund and his team.
I am impressed with the quality of the production. I believe a lot of work and creative process goes into branding the program. When you watch the episode, you realize that it’s a production worthy of the ABC, FOX or NBC. The montage, the background music, the editing style … it’s wonderful. I’ve got to hand it to Eric Holmlund (director and writer), he did well with that.
Maybe when it comes to the Internet video, you expected a YouTube quality amateur video. If you are, you are going to be disappointed. The production and editing (alright, not the prop though — the table in the Judgement Room is so small), it’s almost as good as The Apprentice.
Speaking of The Apprentice … Well, another thing that I don’t get though … Joel Comm is looking for a JV partner. And he’s giving this chance to smaller people rather than big, successful players like Yanik Silvers or Mark Joyner itself. And the winner is going to become a millionaire from the joint-venture. But from the looks of it, it’s as if he’s looking for an apprentice.
Yeah … because when you really think about it, it’s as if Joel Comm is trying to be Donald Trump, but nicer. The whole program is like The Apprentice clone … except (again) they are looking for a JV partner. Well, maybe it’s not a bad thing. They are other clones out there. Heck there’s one here in Malaysia too.
So it is like The Apprentice clone, except everyone here is nicer, no cat fights and no back-stabbing (so far). Everybody seems to be really nice with each other … I guess we’ll have to see the next episodes to really find out about that.
Anyway, I wish all the contestants well, whether they win it or not. From the looks of it, each contestant bring something unique to the table. Maybe they have finished shooting by now, and they have a winner already. I am still curious to know who that is, and what they have to do in the process. So I guess I’ll keep watching (or just get a summary of it).
I think I am more interested to watch the experts teach in the COMMplex … like Mark Joyner, Marlon Sanders, etc … but if they keep doing it like they did it in this first episode … well, I will be disappointed.
