Email Marketing: Pay-Per-Email vs. Pay-Per-Subscriber?

I will be launching my latest project pretty soon. Very few of my readers will know about it because it’s not for the Internet marketing niche. And with this new project, which I am forecasting it to be REALLY HUGE. So I am looking for a new email marketing solution.

My concern is on deliverability, reliability, etc …

The options that most internet marketers are very familiar with are:

[+] Aweber
[+] GetResponse
[+] Email Aces
[+] 1Shopping Cart

And I am sure you are also aware that the companies that I list above. They price their service on the number of subscribers that you have. Most of them allow up to 10,000 subscribers for about $20 per month. And an additional $10 for each 10,000 additional subscribers.

But there’s another breed of email marketing solution providers. They price it in a different way. Because it’s much more expensive than the price you normally pay for, I consider them as premium email marketing providers.

Most of these companies price their service differently. They price their service on the number of emails you send out. For example, if you have 5,000 subscribers, and you blast four emails every month, that’s 20,000 emails. These are the prices that you will be paying according the company that you are with:

[+] Vertical Response - $200
[+] Constant Contact - $150
[+] Mail Chimp - $250 (25,000 email credit)
[+] eMail Brain - $60
[+] iContact (previously IntelliContact) - $47.00 - Note - iContact uses subscriber-based pricing.
Actually, there are plenty more …

Here’s the delimma …

Recently almost everybody is complaining about their emails never appear in email services like Hotmail, Yahoo, AOL and Gmail. I am not talking about the email finding its way to the Junk folder. I am talking about they never got there. And even when they do, it seems like it takes the email a few days to appear in the inbox.

If you are doing a limited time offer, maybe your offer already ended when they do get your email. I myself have experienced weird things with my Yahoo. My Yahoo email is active, yet when I send my email blasts, the email to my Yahoo bounced.

I am writing to seek opinion on this matter. Those who has experience the service from these “premium” email marketing providers, please do tell me your story. And if you have experience with the normal ones (GetResponse, Aweber, EmailAces & 1ShoppingCart) and the premium, I really, really, really want to hear your story.

Oh yeah … another thing. A few years back I was using GetResponse. And there were times when my email could never go to the Inbox in my Yahoo. It always ended up in the Junk folder. But I header (yeah, I heard) that GetResponse has improved greatly … any opinion?

    am with you 100%..

yahoo is really a big pain.. the spam always comes into the inbox no matter how much you block them whereas professional emails never get through.. they become victims of the spam filter..

yahoo needs to do something about this matter.. concerning hotmail and gmail, many autoresponders work fine with them..

i have not used paid services yet, but i have had good service with sendstudio nx and autoresponse plus which are server based autoresponders by the way…

have heard good comments on parabots too..

Recently I switch to Aweber and test my first 2 mailing and it work fine for me, every email is in the normal mailbox.

In the other hand, I have issue with hotmail, where I need to mark the message safe to read in order for the link in the mail become active, it happen to all email I receive, even though all are in the normal inbox
