Webmasters, Not Internet Marketers … My New Heroes

Now who needs Ewen, Filsaime, Jo Han, Sanders, Evoy, Gardyne … etc … No just kidding.

These are great marketers. I learn from them many times.

But I would like to introduce you to another breed of awesome Internet enterpreneur.

Some people approach the Internet marketing business from a different angle. And frankly, these people are like my “hero.”

Well, what I am talking about are profit-oriented webmasters. Why I call them webmasters? It’s because they build websites having the visitors interests first. And they promote their website by advertising, buying incoming links, sending out press release, joining forums, etc …

And how do they stay in business? They pay writers for content, hire moderators to help at forums, hire designers for good designs, hire programmers for customized solutions … they get help, and they pay for it.

When you think about it, when you start a new business, that’s how you would promote your business, right? You would network with people, write press release, inform friends, buy advertising, going for word of mouth, getting media attention, etc.

That’s just what they are doing. There’s no sneaky tricks, no arm-twisting, no cheap marketing ploy … it’s all about doing good business.

And another thing that I like about all these people, they don’t forget about making money. When I was young, just started learning web design, I get so excited that I just build websites. And even though the website got popular with huge traffic, I didn’t make any money.

So who are these people … well, if stop hanging around Internet marketing forums, and started hanging at webmaster forums, you’ll learn to know these people. Let me just name a few:

Alang (http://www.szab.net) operates a few link directories and blogs. He is earning so much with his directories now, getting paid from “review fee.” He also has a network of review blogs. Most of the reviews blogs are about gadgets like MP3, camera phones, etc. He has his friends and families posting at the blogs, and letting them earn all the Adsense they can … Alang profits from something else with the blogs.

Tim Phelan (http://diyminisite.com/recommends/tim-phelan.php) is the guy the wrote the ebook, The Definitive Guide To Website Flipping. After reading his ebook, I know that this guy knows his stuffs. He knows how to build a site, make it profitable, and then put it back on the market. From my reading, Tim is into social networking sites and blogs. At some point, he even owned Pingoat.com.

Patrick O’keefe (http://www.ifroggy.com) runs a network of several forums and blogs. When it comes to forums, this is pro right here. His portfolio includes PHPBBHacks.com, PhotoshopForums.com, KarateForums.com and more. Apart from blogs and forum some rather interesting sites by Patrick are like BuyBlenders.com and SodaRatings.com

Chris Beasley (http://www.websitepublisher.net/blog/) is more into e-commerce. One time ago I think he has an e-commerce site on medievil weapons, like swords, knight armours. And he’s into website publishing as well. I think it’s almost a well-balanced 50-50 between e-commerce and websites for Chris.

While it’s great to make instant money with Internet marketing, do some Adwords campaign, get affiliate commission checks, you should also build something worth building online. Do something for instant cash so that you have funds to go for your big projects. And I think these people understand that. They are building good Virtual Real Estate.

Like I said, my new heroes …
