My Bum Marketing Project Update
I think about a week ago I started a site focusing on a Bum Marketing Method, with a little twist. Among the first thing that I did was
- Bought a domain name – $9
- I already have hosting a huge reseller – $0
- Paid for 8 new articles – $24
- Build the site myself – $0
- Put three articles into the site (I split the articles into two, so I have about 6 200 words articles in the site) – $0
- Paid for a manual directory submission – $5
- Submitted one article at EzineArticles.com – $0
Investment to date – $38. I need two sales to break even. Here’s a little mistake that I did. My article to EzineArticles.com didn’t really link with the targeted keyword. I forgot to do that. It only links with the domain name. Hmm … should be more careful next time.
Now, here are some update.
- I haven’t made any sale
- I am indexed in Google
- I am starting to get “really” targeted keyword traffics coming in — this is the part that excites me the most
So what’s next?
- Put more content on the site
- Update the site and do some cleaning up, removing default setting that shouldn’t be there
- Send one more article to EzineArticles.com
We’ll see how this one goes. I hope I can get some sales coming in to cover my investments.
Stay tuned …

So what’s your revenue model? AdSense? ebook sales?
Is the website an xSitePro site or WordPress blog?

Some folks told me submitting articles to directories might not be as effective compared to submit it to relevant site. Although you might get a lot of exposure from other people’s sydnication but it might raise duplicate content issue.
There is a little twist you can consider …
Submit article version 1 to all the directories and then write different article and publish on your site.

Yeah … I definitely agree that submitting to the site itself is best. Imagine if you can get your article on CNet or Sitepoint, or something like that. But you cannot deny that it’s easy to submit to EzineArticles.com, and it’s easier to get your articles listed quickly.
One thing that I heard people have been discussing about when submitting to article directories is the problem with duplicate content. And that’s why some people recommend to just submit to ONE directory. Choose either GoArticles, EzineArticles or maybe even USFreeAds.
Lurking around at SEOFeed.com, I also learned about lesser known web2.0 sites like ContentPop.com, HypeDiss.com and BlogMemes.com

i am guessing you are following the Niche marketing on crack method.. hehehehe…
ezine articles is a realli good exposure because it brings pretty good amount of traffic supposedly if you headline and teaser copy is realli good..
goarticles and usfreeads don’t bring in traffic as much but usually work because other webmasters usually get their content from goarticles.com. Usfreeads is not that strong enough in 2007..
thats what i have learnt so far.. i maybe wrong kidino.. i need you to prove me wrong..

Do keep us updated on your progress with this project. I’ve heard a friend say he gets one sale out of every 4 articles submitted.
That is much less than what Travis says, which is that he averages $20 per article per month.
