Four Effective Ways To Promote Affiliate Programs Without A Website
Not everyone can build a good website. It may take sometime to learn. And I do feel that it’s worth learning because you can expand your method of marketing. But even if you don’t know how to build a website, don’t let that get in the way. You can still make money with affiliate program without the need of any.
Let me tell you a few ways you can make money promoting affiliate programs without building a website.
[+] Pay-Per-Click Advertising
The first and probably the most classic method is to have use pay-per-click advertising like Adwords or Overture. I think this took off when Chris Carpentor published his ebook, GoogleCash. Eventhough promoting products and affiliate programs using a pay-per-click advertising started way back before that. I remember that time when there was Goto.com. Goto.com is probably the first pay-per-click advertising.
But I think it was GoogleCash that really started the trend with this. And I think with this, when more and more people started doing it (even without getting the ebook as a guide), Google changed many of the rules to Adwords. Maybe you remember that one time ago, Google impose a new policy that you have to mention that you promoting an affiliate program by putting in something like AF, or aff, or something like that.
Anyway, you can still do this. The skills that you need to master here is how to write good short advertisements, and selecting products that will convert well.
If you can do that, and have a huge fund to start with, maybe you can do this. The problem with affiliate program is that you get this month’s earnings next month. And living in Asia where most affiliate programs are in US, Canada, UK and Australia, you need another two weeks to get the check. And then another 30 days for the check to clear. So … you really need a huge fund kick things off.
GoogleCash is probably a classic by now. But I am sure it still is a good read to get your started with pay-per-click advertising and affiliate marketing.
[+] Article Marketing
Let’s get to another way of how to promote affiliate marketing without a website.
Obviously it’s articles. All that you do is write articles and distribute it to article directories. You must be asking how this can actually work, right?
Well, your article is to presell about the product that you are promoting. Maybe you can even talk directly about the product itself. And in the bio where you have a little story about yourself, you can have your affiliate link link there.
Here’s a tip. Instead of using actual affiliate link, perhaps you can use a new domain name and redirect it to the affiliate program using your affiliate link. Domain registrars now days come with free service such as redirection and sometimes even emails. So there’s still no need for a website.
In getting exposure to your articles, you may need to know a few things on search engine optimization. You may need to do some keyword research. You need to target the right keyword in your title and your article body.
Now, here’s the current thing about search engine optimization. Search engines don’t like duplicate content. And with article marketing, people thought that they should distribute their articles to as many article directories as possible. Maybe that worked way back in 2000. But in 2006, submitting your articles to just a handful of website is best. Consider EzineArticles.com, SearchWarp.com and USFreeAds.com. These three are best.
[+] Misspelled Domains
We talked about domain with article marketing recently. And here’s another idea. Why not go for misspelled domain names. I think it’s best to go through affiliate programs in CJ.com, Linkshare.com, ShareASale.com and look for well-known merchants.
With well-known merchants, there are already visiting customers and there are plenty of space for errors in typing. Maybe you’d like to go with merchants with long domain names, or with names that people can easily misspell. Pay attention to how it’s pronounced and how it’s spelled.
Let me tell you that this works. But not all the time. I have one domain where I made 5 sales amounting to $27.35 so far this year. And my investment was only $7.20 for that domain name. But I also have a few domains that didn’t make any sales at all, even though I was getting traffic to it.
[+] Be a Joint Venture Broker
This is something unique. Instead of doing all the marketing, all you do is find and recruit other top performing affiliates to do the marketing for you.
This is where you act as an Joint Venture Broker.
To do this, look for 2-tier affiliate program and sign-up as an affiliate. With 2-tier affiliate you get commission for the sales that you referred, and for the sales that you sub-affiliate referred.
Your next step is to find top performing affiliates. There are two types of top affiliates. And seeking these affiliates requires different methods
One type is the webmaster affiliate, and the other type is the ezine affiliate.
To look for webmaster affiliates, you just need to browse the search engines and look websites that appears in the top results. Try to find the contact details in those websites. Then all that you need to do is write them an email and recommend that they join the affiliate program that you are promoting. Make sure you are using your unique affiliate referral link in your email. This way, if they do join as an affiliate, they’ll be your sub-affiliate. When they make money, you make money too.
I think the best type of website are review and comparison websites. These kind of websites normally are all ready promoting affiliate programs. So when they do a review, they will link to the product using an affiliate link. And you in luck if the review website has not reviewed the product from the affiliate program you are promoting.
Sometimes you don’t need many sub-affiliates. I have one sub-affiliate that runs a review site, and he made me $507.90 this year alone.
To search more websites faster, you can try SEO Elite. SEO Elite is actually a software to look for link partners. But you can also use it to find your potential sub-affiliates.
And for ezine affiliates, you can approach people who publish ezines related to the affiliate program you are promoting. You can also try joining DirectoryOfEzines.com from Charlie Page. There, you will find a list of ezines publishers that you can approach. Other ezine directories like Ezine-Dir.com. And sometimes you can browse at forums to look for members that might publish an ezine.
But if you compare ezine affiliates with website affiliates, webmaster affiliates may bring in small amount of sales, but you can expect to get sales almost every month. With ezine affiliates, sales are normally farily huge but they don’t last long. The normal to get a sudden burst of sale in a week and then it’ll dies off slowly.
Willie Crawford has a great ebook on Joint Venture brokering. You can look it up at BlackBeltJVBroker.com.
[+] More No Website Strategies …
These are a few of the many to make money with affiliate program without building a website. But don’t stop here.
With pay-per-click advertising, you can just use your affiliate link for that. But if you are promoting affiliate programs using other method of promotions, registering a domain name and using the redirection service would probably be a great idea.
Once you have that, you can think about doing all kinds of advertising.
You can try banner advertising on a website with high volume traffic. AdBrite.com may be a good place to start. And if you probably know any website that might do well, you can approach the website owner directly. Sometimes they even have a page specificly about their advertising rates.
You can also try ezine advertising. We discussed about using looking at ezine directories to look for sub-affilaites. You can use the same method to look for ezines to publish in.
And another thing that you can do is offline advertising. Create a list of local newspapers and magazines that may suit your product. And then get information about their advertising rate.
Just a word of caution with advertising. You always want to start small no matter how much discount you may get for a bulk repeat order. The reason being is that you want to see how well the publication or the website is converting your ads.
After the first trial and it has proven to be profitable, you can consider running the ad with longer period contract.
Even though I have shared some powerful strategies to make money with affiliate programs without a website, I still hope that you teach yourself web design. Why? Well … you can do a lot more if you know how to do that.

Hi Kidino,
another of your excellent articles.
personally i think setting up an autoblog with RSS2Blog is money much better spent than PPC.
in the long term, you will have much higher traffic and it’s a fairly fixed cost.

Hi Kidino,
Great article!
I want to make comment though on using mispelled domains though. I think not all merchant will allow their affiliates to do this. I’ve at least encountered one that forbid this and consider this as a kind of trademark breaching.
I believe that it’s better for the affiliates to ask the merchants first before using mispelled domains, just to make sure that the merchant allows that.
Regards,
Zaki
