Adword Likes High PR Websites

I am not much of an Adwords guy … but after reading the Affiliate “Project X”, I more into Adwords than before. I’ve been creating more and more Adwords campaign lately focusing on affiliate programs.

Maybe many people already know this, but it’s a new discovery for me. In the Project X, there’s a method where you need to make landing pages. And so I did … and I host it on one my “junk” domains. That domain has no real website, just an empty index.htm to block the views on directories under it. And obviously, the domain has PR0.

After creating my landing page and uploaded it, I went to Adwords to create my campaign. I followed the step by step process – Campaign Settings, Ads Creation, Keywords, Pricing … now at pricing I was shocked that I need to pay a minimum of $10 to activate my chosen keywords.

So I didn’t go through with it … and call it a night (it was 12 midnite).

The next morning, I couldn’t stop thinking about what I did the night before. This is because one day before trying out that $10 campaign, I created another campaign which is similarly competitive, but I manage to get $0.50 per click. And I thought about what was different between the two. And the only thing that I can think of is that landing pages for the two are hosted on different domains. The earlier campaign was hosted on a PR4 website.

When I thought about that, I immediately uploaded the landing page to my PR4 website. And I tried creating my campaign again with the same keywords. The only different is the URL to where the ads are pointing to. This time, when I get to pricing, I manage to get clicks around $0.50.

Yeah … I was surprise. When I think about this, what if I have a new site, a new project that I want to get exposure for. Since it’s new, I want to get traffic as soon as possible to see how my site is converting … but with this new rule, am I suppose to get some PR first? But that beats the whole idea of instant traffic …

This keeps me thinking …
