Switching From Outlook To ThunderBird
With the increasing number of emails in my Inbox, Outlook seems to be getting slower and slower. And I realize this long time ago, Outlook stores all your email data in ONE FILE. So the more email you have, the bigger that file gets. And the bigger that file gets, the more difficult it is to be read. And that explains the slow performance of Outlook.
I am using ThunderBird now. Things look great. I am a bit disappointed because everytime I try to import my emails from Outlook, the process dies half way. So now, I don’t really have a copy of my emails from Outlook in my ThunderBird.
And I have to confess, I am so used to Outlook. Right now, I am still adjusting myself to ThunderBird. Especially in doing the settings. ThunderBird has funny way of storing settings. Like SMTP accounts are stored separate from the POP account. And passwords are stored in a different setting area too …
BTW, I had a look at my friends Linux Desktop based on SUSE10 installed in his Dell laptop computer. It was cool … maybe I’ll get one of those. Oh yeah, my SkyLook is still in my Outlook. I use SkyLook to record Skype calls. Looks like I still need my Outlook.
