Affiliate Script Aren’t Just For Affiliates
What can you do if you want to know which promotion is successful and which is not? Maybe you’ve heard of click tracking. Click tracking systems are good to see which ads are bringing in the traffic, but you can’t really know which traffic is making the sale.
Now why would we want to know which traffic is bringing in the sales? With my blueprint site, I found a few forums that I can advertise in. Let’s say that I bought some ad spots in two forums. And let say from all that, I get 1000 unique visitors and 50 sales. And let say that the traffic are equal from each site, 500 unique visitors from each…
Think about this … we know we have 50 sales, but we don’t know which traffic is giving the sales. In the end, you still don’t know which advertising investment is more profitable. Was it advertising in forum A, or forum B?
Here’s a scary thought — what if all that 50 sales were from forum A, and forum B didn’t bring any sale at all. The more scary part is — you have no idea. If you do, you could’ve just stop advertising in forum B, right?
So this is where the affiliate script comes in. If I installed an affiliate script, and track all of my advertising using this script, I can know which advertising is bringing in the sales. If you’ve run an affiliate program, you should be able to know which affiliate is bring in the sales, right?
With advertising, you just treat your advertising partners as your affiliate. The difference is that your advertising partners do not get paid commissions. You pay them for the ad spots.
Let say that you want to advertise in forum A. You just create an affiliate account for forum A and use the affiliate link to advertise in forum A. Of course, the owner (or webmaster) of forum A doesn’t really have to know.
When you want to advertise, you just give the webmaster the affiliate link and the banner. You just say that it’s for tracking.
Now, when forum A brings in traffic - you know. And when forum A makes a sale - you know too.
Now I am going to put this system in place for my blueprint sites, and other niche products. But I am still considering either Post Affiliate Pro or iDevAffiliate. If you have any opinions on these two, please write a comment. The both are almost the same the in feature and price.
