Mapping Out Your Business

I haven’t been writing much lately, but I know I should.

First up, maybe I haven’t been doing much to start with. When I don’t have much going on, what can I write about?

But I have a story …

I was away on the weekend for a wedding. It was a 500 km drive, which I didn’t drive though — my father in-law insisted that he drive. Maybe he didn’t approve the last time I drove his car. :P

Anyway, I know that it was going to be a long journey. And I know that part of the time when I am there, I won’t be doing much except for watching things happen.

Before we head out for the trip, I decided that I need to get a book so I can kill the time later.

I took E-Code with me. And I am glad I did …

Among the first thing that I read was an article by Jo Han Mok. And one thing that he mentioned is to get color pencils, or markers and draw yourself a MIND MAP.

And you know what … that is exactly what I need …

So now I am drawing myself a MIND MAP.

About what …

Well, about your business. Right now, I am drawing one about the next project. I can tell a few things that I have in the MIND MAP.

I have a huge circle in the middle labelled with PROJECT. Then, I have other circles outside of it labelled with JV PARTNERS, PRE-LAUNHCH, PRODUCT, BONUSES … and then, I have a bunch of items under those circles.

Now, I see things a lot clearer. And as more things come to mind, I add them to the MIND MAP.

You know what? Marlon has a MIND MAP as well. You can read about it in The Marketing Diary.

But forget about that … I think I am going to give the same advice Jo Han gave me (in the E-Code) — get yourself a bunch of color pencils or markers, and start drawing yourself a MIND MAP.

Do it on a paper, on your notice board, on the white board, in your notebook … that doesn’t matter, start doing one now and you’ll see things will be a lot clearer. And you do one about your next project, maybe laying out your ebook content, defining your business processes …

What do you need to clear the most right now … Map it out first.

Good luck …

A great book on mind mapping is “How to Mind Map” by Tony Buzan — the father of mind mapping…

I read this short read about 4 years ago and have never looked back. I mind map everything now… and I mean EVERYTHING ;-)

Have you read the Internet Business Manifesto by Rich Schefren? It has a gigantic mind-map of the internet business process. I thought it was very useful. Puts all the internet biz stuff into perspective.
You can get it at: http://www.strategicprofits.com/download/manifesto.html

Kidino, will you be recording your Adsense class?
Perhaps you could put it on mp3 like some of the other gurus do…
