Do You Have Control Over Your Online Business?

When you look around, everybody are just so eagerly building content-sites, and TE-sites, and niche portals - for what? For the ‘golden opportunity’ - Adsense.

I have sites that I built for Adsense and affiliate programs too. It’s great to have that, especially when the sites are starting to get steady flow of traffic from the search engines.

When your site is starting to get steady flow of traffic from the search engines, you just sit back watch the money come rolling in until …

Until your site is dropped from the ranking. Sometimes it’s just a rollercoaster ride seeing your ranking go up and down and even disappear from the ranking …

I know that some ‘pro’ site builders that uses special software to generate the sites would never fall in love with their sites.

To them, “if a site got banned or dropped from the ranking, I still have 183 other sites still making money for me. And it’ll only take me 10 minutes to create a new one”

Hmm … seems to be working … well, then have it your way. I can’t tell you what’s wrong or right here.

But I am thinking … this thing that everybody is doing, sure works right now, but with all the search engine updates, and the algorithm changes, what’s working today may not work anymore six months from now.

So the point is - You don’t have control over your business.

But there’s a proven business model that works — in what ever condition — online or offline.

And that is to build your list.

Don’t get me wrong — building content-sites is good. I still do them. Infact, I am coming up with 10 new ones this month — all with good quality content.

But you just need to realize — which builds a better business? A strong business? A long-lasting business?

So early this year, I made a strategy change to my business. And that is to focus more on list building. And I put building content-sites on the side … When I am a bit free from marketing campaigns or a new list building project, I’ll get back to building content-sites, but building my list will be my #1 priority.

Think about your business for a while … do you have control?

If you’d like to start building your own mailing list, but just don’t know where to start, try checking out Jimmy D. Brown’s latest private-site. This private site is called List and Traffic … it’s just that … teaching you how to get more traffic, build your opt-in list and make more money out of it.

If you already have started a mailing list, List and Traffic can surely help you a lot more.

And get this — it’s only $10 per month.

I am already in and I like what I see inside. From what I see, it’s worth a lot more than $10. There’s a special step-by-step guide on how to make $100,000 per year. And also another guide on how to put 1,000 new subscribers by distributing your ezine articles. And there are more … and those are just additional to the main video message by Jimmy D. Brown.

OK … I don’t want to talk about List and Traffic too much. But I just want you to know on what you should be focusing on when building your online business - building your list. And if you’d like help with your list building, List and Traffic can surely help.

Some good points there Kidino, you’re right that to be a successful business you need more control than just hoping to stay ranking highly in search engines. Adsense is great as top up money or seed money for a project, but as a full time income it can be almost a gamble.

I agree. Adsense is very much in control of a great many online incomes that could easily go south at any time. A solid business building plan is a much better long term goal.

This is all I have to say about the subject of Google:

    Love is attracting my attention
Time is giving me all my seasons
Hope is scoping me out my vision
And Truth is, this is my only, only reason
    I’m letting it be
    I’m letting it be
So I can have my freedom
So I can have my freedom

    Peace!

I absolutely agree as I just experienced the same thing. Yesterday I suddenly drop out of Adsense because they claim there are illegal clicks on my sites. I cannot dig into the details to see what and why and when, as they won’t give me proof neither, so all my previous earning in Adsense are gone. They simply say you did, then you did.

Totally agree, but i did loads of content sites last year, and every one was listed in no1 to 10 spots on google and yahoo, they sneeze and all the hard work of linking, gone to waste as every site dropped to a lottery win number.

so A mixture of both is needed.

Its really disturbing at times to see so many fraudulent adsense sites (fraudulent becoz those sites were nothing more than bunch of weird links and irrelevant info with gazillion loads of adsense placements).

I mean, yeah, sure a lot of us try to create websites to get good adsense, but without good content entirely, these websites are nothing more than pieces of junks lying around the SERPs. Not a good sigh to see.

I totally agree on Kidino’s point of list building. It’s really true that money is made from those list. But for me, one of the greatest satisfaction of having a list is for having real people talking to you. It doesn’t really matter when the response you get was just an email, but the fact is, there is real human behind that little piece of electronic bits and bytes.

I recently had a website at www.tips.com.my with tips articles submitted from people around the world. Even though I only had a 400+ subscribers now, but the pleasure of my interactions with them and getting overwhelmed by their tips article suggestions really blew me off. It’s kinda like Joe Vitale his book “Spiritual Marketing” the only real reason he wanted to write a best selling book “so people would love and admire him”.

Well I guess I couldn’t agree more than that. :)

    Warmly,

    Hi Kidino,

    I agree you with you totally… my first concern has always been to build a site and/or community geared for my visitors… Google adsense is just an “add on” that hopefully will generate some income… never my focus… I don’t go crazy optimizing for the Search Engines either… the rules change so quickly that it’s too time consuming and I would rather generate good content sites that make my visitors want to come back because they found something they enjoy or value… the rest will naturally follow… =}

Once again, keep up the good work… this is one of the few marketing sites/blogs that I enjoy and look forward to…

    You said it, kawan!

Past 2 months were good with portal sites, earning Adsense income from visitors driven to those sites by Yahoo. Guess Yahoo suddenly became smart overnight as starting November 2005, the aforementioned sites started getting de-ranked by Yahoo one by one.

Sigh … now I’ll have to start all over to build “real” sites, and generating multiple streams of income - well, better late than never!
