Viral Marketing - Forcing the Viral Effect
In my previous post I wrote about the #1 Rule in Viral Marketing. So what is it - it must be worth it. You are trying to get people to carry your marketing message, and people won’t if what you have is not worth talking about.
Consider this — if you were to tell people about your new thing, would people be thanking you for tell them?
That is a simple benchmark to see whether it’s WORTH IT or not.
After you’ve done that, you want to create a reason for people to spread your message. Remember this, the best reason for people to spread the words for is PRODUCT EXCELLENCE. This is what Mark Joyner said in his recent multimedia training at Trafficology. And I agree. But, to force the viral effect, you may want to create something else that can give you immediate effect. With thanks to the Internet, your message can travel faster than the plague.
Now, how can you force the viral effect?
Yes - create a reason for people to spread the words. Now, what kind of reason?
I’ve done this with DIYMinisite.com and recently WOWPopUp.com. I reward people to carry my viral message.
Let me show you what I mean. In DIYMinisite.com, people can register and start downloading wonderful resources on minisite creation and marketing strategies. And I told them that, if they refer more members, I will unlock a secret download.
And with WOWPopUp.com, though it’s free, I upsell 20 extra PNG pop-up graphics during the sign-up process and inside the Member’s Area. And because I sell something, I can tell people that if they refer a new member, and that member takes up my extra offer, they can earn a commission.
And do you know how long it took to build a list of 500 people - one week. I know that people built a list of 3157 in just 5 days. But I like to build good quality lists … and get this, the list keeps growing, and growing, and growing because of the continual viral effect - just like a plague.
I guess I’ll write more later … we still need HOW TO release the virus and start a plague.
