October Progress Report

At first I wanted to email my subscribers this, and later make another one here. But since both are going to be about the same thing, and the email version seems to be quite long, I’ve decided to just post the email version here. Later I will email my subscribers about this post.

So how was October? Compared to September, my earning was a bit low. It went down about 16%. But being in Malaysia, I still make more than some managers. :P

Anyway, here’s a summary of October 2005.

• I think the first thing that got attention this month was when I submitted my 3-month resignation notice. And some say, “3-months?”

  I just got the reply from the Human Resource Dept. And they said that my last day will be on 2 Jan 06. I will still be with them for a few more months.

• I wanted to sell web templates to my subscribers. And I was fortunate NOT to go ahead with the project.

  WHY?

  I found out that only 12% of my subscribers are web template buyers. But I also found out that what majority of my subcribers want. And now I have some product ideas … hehehe … [sneaky grin]

• I added MoneyClicking.net to the Blog Top Site. And I see that my friend, Andre followed. ;)

  Right now I am at above 20. Doesn’t really matter. But I would appreciate a comment and a rating.

• A few more sales from XSitePro. I wasn’t promoting this actively. Perhaps the orders came from search engines and autorespond messages in DIY Minisite for new subscribers – isn’t it cool when you start to have things automated.

  But the number of sales dropped. I am thinking that early in August and September, I was promoting this to my list till I can no longer promote it there.

• I got a few more sales of TotalWebAudio. Some came from sub-affiliates – how cool is that? So here’s the power of 2-tier affiliate program.

• I started trying out Chitika Mall this months. I only use them on two of my content-sites. Combined,
  the two sites have about 12 pages. And right now I am doing over 200 impressions and over $1 almost everyday.

  Some friends reported that Chitika is doing a lot better than Adsense. If you don’t have a Chitika account, get them here. Really is doing well.

• A friend from TurningIdeasIntoDollars.com, Mike Long started a new membership site. It’s called ArticleLightning.com.

  It’s a site where Mike will provide you with 250 fresh, royalty-free articles every month.

  And to keep it effective for the customers, Mike is only taking 300 customers. I think that is way low and a huge advantage.

  Why am I telling you this? Well, I participated in it’s launching campaign. And I did a few sales from this too. The best part is that income from this will be recurring, for as long as the customer stays.

  In its 48 hours of launch, I have gathered about 250 download requests. But maybe it’s from my own subscribers.

  But there’s something interesting … friends and subscribers are already spreading the news. I see people talk about WOW Pop-Up at Warrior Forum, Phil Wiley’s forum, Traffic Eq’s forum, etc … And I didn’t even asked for it.

• I wrote a post about blogging vs content-sites that really attract some attention. Perhaps you’d like to read it yourself and give me a few comments.

• Another blog post that I wrote is about publishing and ezine. Actually it’s not one post. It’s a number of posts. If you do publish an ezine, or you are thinking about publishing one, then this blog post may interests you.

• How’s Adsense doing? Well, people have been talking about ‘Smart Pricing’ which seems to be working well for Adwords advertisers. But for Adsense publishers, it’s the other way around.

  On some days, I see a spike of earning. And one some days I see drops to its worse. My theory is that one good days, Adsense in crediting your good sites, thus affecting the rest of the sites.

  On the bad days, Adsense in penalizing your bad sites which is the reason for the worse earning. But overall, my Adsense earning dropped.

• Traffic – how’s traffic for this month? Well, there is an increase. And my traffic has been increasing consistently over the past few months. Here’s a snap shot of the graph.

  

Well, I guess this should wrap it. Maybe I should say that I have eight streams on income for October 2005. And most of them are listed above.
