Watching Katrina from Malaysia
If you don’t know this, I live in Malaysia. One thing, I don’t have CNN at home. But the local news have been covering quite a lot on Katrina.
And it’s a good thing that I have broadband. I watched some videos at MSN, and watching the babies and children go without water, milk, food … that really breaks your heart.
I have a baby myself, Iman. She’s 6-month old. And I imagine what would happen to her if she has to go without milk and food. I just couldn’t bare it.
And at the same time, I am reading and watching … I believe that it’s not that there’s not enough fund. It’s not that’s there’s no money to go around … it’s about how responsive responsible parties are supposed to act.
But the videos just break my heart. At times, I tried so hard to keep tears from rolling down my cheeks.

The Katrina disaster has really taught us something valuable.
Our people have been living comfortably in Malaysia without thinking just how fortunate we are staying here.
The big gunner like US is not exempted suffering from this major catastrophe. Whatever happens next to our country, no one knows for sure as it is in God’s hands.
Therefore, it’s best for us to learn to appreciate things around us, people who have been living next door to us and don’t take things for granted. Treat people good the same way you want to be treated. You may never know that one day your good samaritan might be the one you’ve ill-treated.
Respecfully,
Sunny Tan
