How to Make Money in the Make-Money-Online Market

make money online market

It’s hard making money in the make-money-online market.

Why? -There’s always people promoting something every single day. And if your little promo campaign clashes with one of the big guns, chances are, you’ll see very small, or no sale at all …

You see, everybody has only a certain amount of money to spend. And if they already spend on something recently, it’s hard to convince them to spend again.

Just picture this, after spending $300 on a home-study marketing course. Would you still consider buying another $30 ebook that month? Probably not …

See – that’s what I mean.

You’ve got to always race for that little inch of space in your prospect’s pocket.

So what can you do about this … ??

Making it easier …

You got to make yourself a familiar face, or person. The market is just a very noisy place. The more familiar people are to you, the more they will listen to you.

When you are a more familiar person, it’s like that you are able to filter away all the other noises and get people to listen to you, intensely.

Most of the times, people just go out and attack the mass public …

It’s hard to get the attention of the public all at once. Especially with all the huge names, and big guns already establishing themselves …

If you are new, how can you compete with Joe Vitale, Armand Morin, Alex Mondassion … etc … ??

Instead of trying to compete with them, you should be creating your own little market, and make yourself known to them.

Here’s what you should do …

First, think of a unique way of positioning yourself so that you appear different from others, even if you are offering the same thing.

Offer a free gift, and start building your list.

Next, you need to write to your list often. I write to my list every week. I share with them stories, experience, tips, opinions, even photos when I go on a trip …

Little by little, you are starting to become a familiar person to your subscribers.

And when you are, it’s easier to sell them your stuffs, or promote something new to them. But just be sure that you give them your honest opinion.

Some just got it wrong when all that they do is send you promos, and articles from article directory. I get ezines like those myself, and I was thinking to myself, “What can this guy possibly share with me himself?”

If that is all that you do, you are not showing your unique personality. You are not showing your subscribers what you are capable of. You are not relating with your subscribers and I don’t think that you will ever be that FAMILIAR person to them.

It’s like you have no substance at all! And you are not special.

Example of how I do this

It’s better to show than to tell. So here’s an example of how I am doing with this method.

I don’t make a list with 1,177 subscribers in 7 days. There’s no use to that if your subscribers are falling off your list, faster than you can recruit new ones.

It’s OK to have small success, be sure that it’s effective. Maybe you are thinking, I am saying this because I don’t have HUGE ones … well, maybe true.

But small success are easier to achieve. And they also easier to duplicate.

A few months back I started DIYMinisite.com. I guess the niche is about how to build websites for internet business. There are many like this around, but my offer is special.

In there I offer something unique – minisite templates and video tutorials. And they are all for free. And there’s also an ebook about minisite strategies from seven experts.

It’s not some resell rights product or anything like that. Those are the things that I created myself. So you can only get them from me.

And I even planted a viral strategy in there. It’s simple – if they refer more subscribers to me, I’ll give them 2 more free gifts.

Now, there’s no catch in joining DIYMinisite.com. They can join and leave anytime they want. They only need a name and an email address.

To this very day, I still get some new subscription everyday, with no additional promotion.

But the thing here is, with that little list, I keep emailing news, tips, etc … every week. I think I can safely say that I am a more familiar person to the people on that list.

And recently, I was promoting XSitePro (which is a great software – read my review). And sales just keep pouring in.

And later, I even offered design services. I didn’t have to do much convincing, yet orders just came in. I don’t even have a website about my design services.

After every mass-mailing that I do, I waited anxiously for feedbacks. I like getting them. That just shows how your subscribers appreciate you, and treat you like a real person, rather than just another ezine publisher.

Those that write back to me, some are even personal friends now.

So now … do a check on yourself …

  • Do you build a list
  • Do you write often to your list
  • Are you showing your unique personality and abilities

  1. Hi Kidino,

I am a satisfied customer of yours and i always appreciate your view on internet marketing.

This piece on creating a relationship with your subscribers is so obvious but many leave it out.

But I have a question: So you have a list and you contact them regularly giving valuable info.

How do you actually interact with them? This is basically a one way transaction right…

I would like to know what you think about this and how exactly you accomplish that..

This way of inviting your subsribers to comment your blog is one way I understand..

    Sincerely,

I like the idea of pairing your blog and ezine. There are things that I post only in emails. And there are things that I post only on the blog. But if you combine the two, it really is a powerful strategy.

Yes, asking people to comment the posts on the blog is one way. And I also ask people to write to me. So far I’ve asked about how’s the whether at their place. I’ve asked about what they did on the weekend, etc … Some are surprised that I actually reply them.

And at times, you need to write something other than the marketing things. That’s why I share about my trips, my baby (Iman) and other things. Sometimes these get more response than my marketing normal posts.

Anyway, here’s three surefire topics that you can do to really boost response. But don’t do it often because you need to keep to your main topic. They are babies, tough women (as in successful) and pets – trust me!

And yes … not everybody will write to you. But I believe that you’ll build some loyal silent readers, even if they are only reading and not responding. Like how I am with some ezines that I subscribe. Getting emails and feedbacks is a good indicator that you are doing the right thing.

And sometimes, just to get the rough idea how many loyal silent readers you have, you can offer a free download and see how many downloads you get. At times, you even create a survey that guarantees answers are anonymous … and again, see how many responded.

  3. Hey Kidino
I found your website thru allan’s forum . and I have to say that you do have unique way of communicating with your susbcribers.. It’s more personal than putting “hi %first name%” lol…
I always read your newsletters… and even follow them for my own site.
    Great Job.
    Regards

Hello Varun, glad to know that you feel that way. Oh, and I do use ‘Hi %firstname%’ thingy. It helps a bit but when you are dealing with the make-money-online market, they know that you do that. So you got to do something more ….

  5. Ha ha ha… very true. very true… You have to do “Hi %firstname%’ thingy. There’s no way around it.. I myself do that..
But after watching you.. I am more personal in nature than just writing out newsletter and stuff…
    Regards
    Varun
