Can I just say hi?
I sent out an email the other day. And instead of trying to promote something, I wrote in the subject - Can I just say hi.
Here’s the first part of the email …

Can I send out an email just to say hi?
I don’t know that I have got any emails like that from
other ezine publishers. But I was thinking, why must I
be selling something, or promoting something to you
everytime I make a mailing … ??Can’t I just say hi?
I guess, this may be just a test to how response are.
Well, last weekend, I went to the PetroSains in KLCC,
the tallest twin towers in the world. Taiwan beats us
to the tallest tower recently.Anyway …
My wife and I, together with my sister-in-law and my
3-month old daughter, just had to get out of the house.
So it was fun.PetroSains is like the Science Center where you get to
see stuffs, and try things, and get on rides and
everything … all just about science.If you feel like writing, tell me what you did last
weekend. You know I love reading your emails.Let’s get on with the other stories. Let’s recap what
happened last week …
You know what? I got many responses … more than I ever got before. And I began to learn who my subscribers are. And those are interesting email. Some just replied - “Hi. Right back at you.” Some told me about their weekend, like I did.
But in conclusion, it was fun … and I like reading emails from subscribers.
