Camtasia Alternatives
Now what do you have other than Camtasia? So I have been searching – and you know what? I found a handful of alternatives. Some might even be better and cheaper.
Flash Screen Recorders
- My Screen Recorder Pro – http://www.deskshare.com – $99.95
- BBFlashBack – http://www.bbsoftware.co.uk – $199
- TurboDemo – http://www.turbodemo.com – $299
- Macromedia Captivate (RoboDemo) – http://www.macromedia.com – $499
- Screen Virtuoso Pro – http://www.screenvirtuoso.com – $39
AVI to Flash Converter
- Kibisis – http://www.kibisis.com – $59.95
- FlixLite – http://www.wildform.com – $39
- FlixPro – http://www.wildform.com – $149
- Turbine Video – http://www.blue-pac.com – $39
I haven’t had the chance to try all of them – even the trial. Screen Virtuoso seems affordable. One though – you can’t add your own control buttons to it – you know, the Play, Pause, Stop, Rewind thingy … But the output video is acceptable.
Looking at performance and price, Turbo Demo may be the one that can beat Camtasia. If you have the budget, you may want to check that out.
Now, here’s an option – you can get an AVI screen recorder for about $19 or maybe $29 or so. Deskshare has that too. Then, you can get Kibisis. Kibisis is suppose to be able to put in control buttons. That’s an investment of below $100.
Oh yeah … just one more note, I tried Turbine Trial – too many options! Not being familiar with digital video formats, compression, framerate thingy may confuse you. If you want to keep it simple – not Turbine. The rest have yet to be tested.

Hi Kidino
I’ve come across a freeware program called camstudio. Not as good as Camtasia but still useful
