My Latest Email - Cash Button System

By Kidino @ 9 May, 2008

Here’s the latest email that I wrote to my readers. I thought it contain valuable stuffs that you can learn. A bit of a rant though, but I am sure you’ll like it.

=============================================
The story about the instant cash button…
=============================================

I was playing Need For Speed on my Nokia n95. Cool game. And
I was getting really good, I can go for a race and win every
time.

In NFS, you need to qualify yourself from small racing
events to the next bigger ones. Of course, the bigger ones
offer bigger prize money. And finally, I’m qualified for the
biggest racing event. This event offers $5000 cash prize.

With the cash prize, you can upgrade your car, or even get a
totally new one.

And there come a time when all that I needed to do to get
bigger, more powerful cars was just to go for a few races. I
know that I will win every single race I go.

It felt like I can press a button and boom - $5000!

That made me thinking…

Wouldn’t it be nice if in business, I can just press a
button and make $5000 every time?

Sounds like a fantasy. But this really happens in the real
world.

OK, maybe not a “button” so to speak. But some businesses
have put together a system where they can do 1-2-3 and here
comes the cash.

=============================================
The freelancer’s cash button
=============================================

I remember talking to my friend, who is an accomplished web
programmer. He started as a freelancer and later launched a
software development company, doing well over $200k every
year now.

When he was starting out, he taught programming through
training companies. Companies and government agencies would
send their staff for a one week training to learn PHP, and
my friend is the trainier.

To him, doing the training is a sure-fire way to generate
cash to cover his overhead. He can go out and do a 1-week
course (which he’s done dozens of times) and come back with
$1000 in hand.

The rest of the months, he spends building his actual
business, which is developing custom software.

And later, students who came for the training recommended
him when their company needed any custom software
development. It turns out, their company were preparing
staffs for new web projects. They need their staff to be
able to manage the project later. Not develop, just manage.

So they turn to the first guy they know who can develop a
custom software for them.

=============================================
Another example - the funded proposal system…
=============================================

Business is all about systems. If you’ve been struggling in
business, then you ought to stop and look at what you are
doing now.

[+] What are you doing to get customers to you?

[+] What are you doing for long-term success?

[+] Do you have your own instant cash button?

One time ago I learned about the Funded Proposal System.

From my point of view, a funded proposal system is a lead-
generation-cum-instant-cash.

How does it work?

You create a report and sell it. When you sell your report,
you make some money up front. That should cover for your
operations. But what you are really after is customers to
buy bigger things from you.

If you are in web design, maybe you can write a book about
how to effectively manage a company’s website. But your aim
is to generate leads, and later design clients.

Your long-term is of course the hosting, maintenance fee and
repeat sales.

This is similar to the freelance programmer story. The only
thing is that he’s doing training rather than writing a book
but both serve the same purpose.

=============================================
Positioning yourself as the expert…
=============================================

If you really think about this, both stories that I told you
about, they are positioning themselves as the expert. When
people see you as the expert, they will come to you instead
you go looking for them.

The easiest way to make money (online of offline) is to get
people look like an expert.

If you are not an expert, then become one. It’s not that
hard to do. OK, maybe it’s better to start with something
that you are familiar with.

=============================================
Finding your own cash button…
=============================================

Some people are really good with the online. They can put
together a book and use PPC to drive traffic. But don’t stop
there.

Your ebook should lead you to bigger sales. Because it’s a
lot fast to make more with bigger sales.

I mean, it’s better to have two clients paying you $5000
than having 10 clients paying you $1000. Yes, the two
clients you have will be demanding because they paid you a
very high price. And you should deliver something worth the
money they paid for.

But that is nothing like the headache of handling 10 clients
paying you only $1000 each.

Well, you should consider this and price yourself wisely.

But the point about this whole email is to get you to think.

What you should do is start thinking about your cash button
and after that, conver those into bigger sales. That is how
you grow a business.

=============================================
What I am working on right now…
=============================================

Hmm… seems like I am not writing as often as I used to. I
putting together a cash button system for my latest venture.

If you miss getting emails from me, then you know what I am
doing right now. This is an offline project so it requires
me to be away from the computer for quite sometime. But hey,
at least I get this email out.

OK, let me just tell you a little bit about it. I am going
for the offline gold - ;)

Yes, I will be selling online marketing to the offline
businesses. Maybe I will report further how this goes later.

But in the meantime, if you have the basic online marketing
skills, then you can make a huge amount of money selling it
to the offline world.

Just check out the report from Andrew…

When Does Web2.0 Equals Lack Of Information?

By Kidino @ 20 April, 2008

Here’s the inside scope on Kidino. I am starting a new business. What is it? Well, I am not telling. But anyway, in the process, I have been looking around for an invoicing system that I can use. I found a number of online invoicing systems from Web2.0 companies. And they all look promising to me. But I am frustrated with the lack of information the website gives…

Web2.0 has been associated with a number of things. Many people have different perspectives on what Web2.0 is. Let me tell you what I see in Web2.0.

No, it’s not just about designs. To me, looking at how people do business today, the Web2.0 movement is about opening up your business and giving the power back to the users of the Internet.

First of all, you see that people of the Internet dictates what’s important and what’s not, via Stumble, Digg, Technorati, and all of these other social bookmarking sites. And you see the people get online to networking a much more smarter way with Facebook, LinkedIn, MySpace, etc.

And many tools and software now days are being offered as a web-based application. And these web-based applications are not a closed application. They offer a way for you to communicate back and forth to the application they built. How? Through API (application program interface). Which means, you can build your own application to support the existing main application. And then, followed by SaaS (software as a service), like the invoicing solution that I am look for.

Take a look at Facebook, which allows outside developers to create applications for Facebook users to use inside Facebook itself. And you also see Google offering a number of ways for other applications to talk to its Adwords, Google Map, etc…

And Web2.0 is also being associated with simplicity. You see this in their design and also in their web copy. I like the simplicity as it makes complicated things seems easy. I have always been fascinated at how certain websites, web designers and companies are able to sell with really short web copy. I have always like the clean design that they have, but I worry I won’t be able to sell with the short copy.

So I admire these websites.

But then again, after some thoughts, I am starting to question — is it the website and copy that sells the product, or the media (including blogs) attention that attracted them the customers.

Well, you can’t deny that some Web2.0 companies are really good at PR and attracting media attention. Maybe that is what selling the service or the product.

I say this because, in the search of the invoicing system that I can use, in their simplicity and minialist approach, many of these websites don’t provide enough information for me. When I can’t find the information I want on their site, I do have a few other options:

[+] scour for the information in their FAQ, Forum, Knowledge base… if they have any. And most of the times, it’s not really organized. You will be wasting a lot of time.

[+] search on the Internet for reviews on the website/service.

[+] give them my credit card details (or Paypal) for a free 30-day trial.

[+] get in touch with them… email, phone, chat… could take sometime before you get an answer.

Frankly, none of these options are really convenient for me. I wish they would just put that information on the website. If I found 20 invoicing solutions

Anyway, what I am looking for is an invoicing software that:

[+] supports online payment via Paypal & WorldPay

[+] automatic invoice creation on recurring fees

[+] supports multi-currency (as I will be serving local and international clients)

So far, I haven’t found any web-based invoicing software that supports WorldPay. Even if they do, well, they didn’t explain it well on their website.

Though we advance in the Internet culture with Web2.0, there’s no reason to provide very little information about your product or services. Simplicity is one thing, but providing enough information is another.

Most of the times, I am technical person. I want to know what an application can and cannot do.
